[Ivan Hernandez Dalas] Robot fighting!

Robot fighting is not fiction!

Let’s take a break from serious news and have a look at this very interesting event.

We know very well that a part of robotics and mechatronics research and development is funded for warfare exchange, the most prominent of them are the “drone’s programs” and “super soldier’s exoskeletons” (this last one sound cool).

We also know that there have been and there are robot fighting tournaments mostly for TV shows (well look into that in the near future).

But let’s take a look into “Megabots”. Japan has enjoyed the “MECHA” genre (Mazinger, Gundam, Evangelion, to name a few)  as part of their anime and manga media for so long, that is almost nonsensical that they haven’t built a giant robot yet. WAIT! They have!

And Americans love to make everything GIANT and -even better- with armament! So, following the wisdom of one of the most important entrepreneurs in history, Henry Ford “Auto racing began 5 minutes after the second car was built” but this time with robots. So: this video was published:

USA CHALLENGES JAPAN TO GIANT ROBOT DUEL! Of MegaBots Inc.

And of course, the Japanese answered:

RESPONSE TO ROBOT DUEL CHALLENGE.

Maybe there is a lot of money and other important resources needed for developing better technologies or designing viable projects for the future of robotics. But hey. I would love to watch two giant robots fighting each other in real life. Don’t you?
