Robots are becoming more powerful, precise, and rugged in response to industry needs. Cone Drive last week added a cycloidal gearing series to its motion control product line.
The Traverse City, Mich.-based company said the new technology is engineered to meet the performance and durability demands of modern robotics and automation applications.
“By adding cycloidal gearing to our product range, we are giving customers greater choice for achieving both precision and high torque density in their applications,” stated Jacob Randall, president of Cone Drive. “We are proud to now offer the complete Spinea cycloidal gearing range.”
Cycloidal drives provide precision, power
With a focus on precision, compact design, and high torque transmission, Spinea’s Cycloidal gears offer an advanced motion solution for systems such as robots requiring low backlash, high positioning accuracy, and long operating life, said Cone Drive.
“The design’s ability to distribute torque over multiple contact points simultaneously also delivers outstanding shock load resistance and quiet, vibration-free operation,” the company claimed.
Cone Drive said its cycloidal range includes inline and right-angle variants, hollow-shaft and solid-shaft options, and a wide variety of gear ratios to accommodate complex system requirements. It added that the gearing options are designed for easy integration into both OEM platforms and custom-built systems, offering engineering teams flexibility and robustness.
Cone Drive offers global gearing support
Cone Drive said it supports the new product line through its global network of technical specialists. They can give application assistance, rapid prototyping, and customization services across North America, Europe, and Asia.
The unit of Timken is a global provider of precision motion-control systems. With a legacy spanning over 100 years, the company offers a broad portfolio including worm gears, harmonic solutions, slew drives, and cycloidal gearing, serving industries such as automation, defense, medical, aerospace, and renewable energy.
