LG Electronics plans to showcase the newest member of the LG CLOi robot family, the LG CLOiD humanoid robot, at CES 2026 next week in Las Vegas. The company hasn’t shown any full-body views of the robot yet, but it described it as humanoid in appearance, with dual seven degree-of-freedom arms and five-fingered hands.

The robot joins the LG CLOi lineup of wheeled service robots. These robots have already been deployed in retail, restaurants, and hospitality.

The “D” in the LG CLOiD name stands for “Dynamic,” according to the company, but the “-oid” suffix also suggests a humanoid kinematic for the robot. There is no indication that CLOiD will be a legged robot, and the fact that all the other LG CLOi robots are wheeled robots would suggest that the mobile manipulator‘s base will also be wheeled.

CLOiD household functions to be revealed

LG said it designed CLOiD to perform a wide range of indoor household tasks; it’s still unclear which ones the new robot will be able to perform at launch. The robot’s chipset will be integrated by a display, speaker, cameras, and an array of sensors for expressive communication, natural voice interaction, and intelligent navigation, said the company.

LG is positioning CLOiD as a home assistant with the marketing messaging “Zero-Labor Home Makes Quality Time.” The South Korean company is promising a future where technology meaningfully reduces the burden of daily chores, allowing customers to focus more on the people and moments that matter most.

While LG has global brand recognition and the manufacturing prowess to build and deliver high-volume hard goods, its CLOiD product line could still suffer from the same AI model functionality gap that plagues many home-based humanoid robots currently.

LG takes a two-pronged approach to robotics

LG Electronics is strengthening its robotics portfolio through a two-pronged approach: R&D and strategic investment. The company has established an HS Robotics Lab within its Home Appliance Solution Company to further develop and differentiate its technologies.

Key domestic partners include KIST and ROBOTIS (in which it owns 7.36% equity). LG Electronics USA Inc. is based in Englewood Cliffs, N.J.

Globally, LG has invested in Figure AI, Agibot, and Dyna Robotics to advance home robot safety and foundational AI modeling. The company will show its products including CLOiD at Booth 15004 in the Las Vegas Convention Center during CES.
