Agile Robots SE this week said it is working with Google DeepMind, Alphabet’s AI research lab. The companies plan to combine DeepMind’s Gemini Robotics foundation models with Agile Robots’ scalable industrial robotics platform.

“Agile Robots has already installed over 20,000 robotics solutions worldwide, proving intelligent automation at scale,” stated Zhaopeng Chen, founder and CEO of Agile Robots. “The huge opportunity ahead lies in autonomous, intelligent production systems that can transform entire industries. Integrating Google DeepMind’s Gemini Robotics models into our robotic solutions positions us at the cutting edge of this rapidly growing market.”

Founded in 2018, Agile Robots said its Agile ONE humanoid builds on its existing portfolio, which includes the Agile Hand, the FR3 force-sensitive robotic arm, the Diana 7 power- and force-limited arm, and the Thor series robot arms. The Munich, Germany-based company said it designed Agile ONE to work safely and efficiently alongside people and other systems in industrial settings.

Agile Robots collaborates to improve robot performance

By bringing together Agile Robots’ hardware and other AI systems with Google DeepMind‘s Gemini Robotics foundation models, the two teams said they hope to improve performance through robot deployment, data collection, model training, and iteration.

The partners said they will first focus on high-value industrial use cases in sectors with acute and growing demand for adaptable, reliable automation. This includes industrial and manufacturing tasks where reliability and scale are critical.

Jointly training, deploying, and testing robots will create a scalable “AI flywheel,” said the companies. In it, data from real-world operations will improve the models, and the models will then expand robotic capabilities, unlocking broader deployment, according to the companies.

“We are excited to partner with Agile Robots as we develop more advanced AI models for the next generation of robots and to scale their impact across sectors,” said Carolina Parada, senior director and head of robotics at Google DeepMind. “This research partnership is an important step in bringing the impact of AI to the real world.”

Google DeepMind deepens robotics partnerships

Google DeepMind has worked to deepen partnerships with robotics developers in recent years. Earlier this year, DeepMind announced that it would help Boston Dynamics make the Atlas humanoid smarter with its Gemini Robotics foundation models.

DeepMind is also working with Apptronik, another humanoid developer, to apply its foundation models to the Apollo robot.

In addition, Intrinsic Innovation LLC recently joined Google. As a distinct group within Google, the company plans to continue evolving its platform, using the capabilities of Google Gemini models and Google Cloud, as well as working closely with Google DeepMind.

Editor’s note: At the 2026 Robotics Summit & Expo on May 27 and 28 in Boston, there will be sessions on the data flywheel, embodied AI, and physical AI, as well as on humanoid robot development. Registration is now open.
