Today at the LogiMAT trade show, Orbbec Inc. said it is collaborating with Basler AG, a leading manufacturer of industrial cameras and a long-standing reference in machine vision. The partners said they aim to provide customers worldwide with integrated and scalable industrial 3D vision systems for demanding tasks in robotics and logistics.

“Basler’s industrial expertise and global reach make them the right partner for scaling 3D vision in demanding automation markets,” stated Mike McSweeney, vice president of sales at Orbbec. “Our vertically integrated manufacturing and on-chip depth sensing enable us to deliver industrial-grade stereo solutions with the price-performance and long-term availability that Basler’s customers require.”

Shenzhen, China-based Orbbec said it is a leading provider of robotics and AI vision. The publicly listed company serves more than 3,000 customers across nearly 100 countries and regions.

In 2025, Orbbec reported RMB 941 million ($136 million U.S.) in revenue—a 66.66% year-over-year surge, which it said marked a turnaround to profitability and demonstrated growth momentum and market competitiveness. The company claimed that it continues to advance “hand-eye-brain integration and multi-sensor fusion perception to empower the robotics industry.”

Orbbec brings manufacturing experience

“This is a newly formalized technology partnership announced at LogiMAT 2026, going beyond a traditional distribution model,” McSweeney told The Robot Report.

Orbbec is combining its proprietary chip-level, depth sensing technology and in-house manufacturing capabilities with Basler’s expertise in industrial vision, system integration, and global go-to-market strategy. The companies said their customers will benefit from “clearly defined, tested, and long-term available solutions within an established industrial ecosystem.”

The first product of the partnership is Basler’s Stereo mini, launched at LogiMAT 2026. The product line delivers a stereo-based 3D vision system from a single source — including camera hardware, tested configurations and accessories, documentation, and integration into the Basler pylon software development kit (SDK).

The system is designed for perception tasks in logistics and general automation applications.

“With Orbbec as our technology partner, we are specifically strengthening our 3D portfolio,” explained René von Fintel, executive director for business management at Basler.

“With the Basler Stereo mini camera, we are expanding our range of solutions in the field of navigation, obstacle detection, and environment mapping for autonomous mobile robots [AMRs],” he added.

Basler co-develops 3D vision for cost-sensitive applications

“The Basler Stereo mini was developed specifically for cost-sensitive robotics and human-machine interaction applications where size matters,” Sebastian von Holdt, head of the management business area at Basler, told The Robot Report. “It is particularly well-suited for mobile robots such as AGVs and AMRs, as well as drones or touchless interaction systems where compact dimensions and efficiency are essential, and enables significantly improved performance through precise 3D perception with minimal space requirements.”

Will the companies need to change their production or supply chains?

“Neither company will make any changes to its existing supply chain—the Stereo mini, the first product to emerge from this partnership, will be supplied by Basler,” replied von Holdt. “All USB and GigE models are available for order now. The GMSL interface version of the Stereo mini camera is scheduled to launch at the beginning of the second half of the year.”

Founded in 1988, Basler offers a broad, coordinated portfolio of vision hardware and software. It also enables customers to solve their vision application issues by developing customer-specific products or solutions. The group employs around 850 people at its headquarters in Ahrensburg, Germany, as well as other sales and development locations throughout Europe, Asia, and North America.

LogiMAT attendees can see the Stereo mini product line at Basler’s exhibit in Booth ES36, Entrance East, between Halls 1 and 2 of the Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre. Basler and Orbbec said they plan further joint developments as their collaboration continues to evolve.
