Iván Hernández Dalas: Learn about the latest advancements in healthcare robotics at the Robotics Summit & Expo

The medical robotics market is a quickly growing industry. According to Fortune Business Insights, the market was valued at $18.98 billion in 2025. The research firm expects it to grow to $74.07 billion by 2034, representing a CAGR of 16.33%.

The Robotics Summit & Expo, which takes place May 27-28, 2026, in Boston, Mass., will feature an entire session track focused on healthcare robotics. This track will include:

  • Scaling Soft Wearable Robots from the Lab to the Market: Connor Walsh, a professor of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Harvard, will cover how academic research can move rapidly toward commercialization through user-centered design, clinical validation, and strategic partnerships.
  • Best Practices for Force-Torque Sensing in Surgical Robotics: Robert Brooks, the CEO of ForceN, will give an overview of the roles of force and torque sensing in surgical robotics, including tip of instrument sensing, trocar remote center of motion/tissue contact, surgeon collaboration/leading/tool insertion, and surgeon-consol interfaces.
  • Balancing Hardware and Software for Real-World Success: Ted Larson, the co-founder and CEO of OLogic, will explore how the best robotics companies think about design, collaboration, and manufacturability from day one.
  • How to Successfully Design Hospital Logistics Robots: This panel session will feature insights from David Crabb, founder and CEO of Rovex Technologies, Spencer Krause, president and CEO of SKA Robotics, and Peter Seiff, the CEO of ST Engineering at Aethon.
  • The Sub-Millisecond Scalpel: Bridging the Latency Gap in Telesurgery: Darren Porras, the market development manager at Healthcare Real-Time Innovations, will discuss how data-centricity works to meet the rapid, reliable communication requirements for the next generation of clinically-viable telesurgery systems.
  • MassRobotics Form & Function Challenge Finals: During this unique session, led by Russell Nickerson, the partner engagement liaison at MassRobotics, MassRobotics will announce the winner of its third Form & Function challenge.
  • MassRobotics Healthcare Startup Showcase: Juan Necochea, the director of strategic partnerships at MassRobotics, will introduce the startups that are part of MassRobotics 5th annual Healthcare Robotics Startup Catalyst.
  • Rewiring What’s Possible: A New Era of Human Potential: In this closing keynote, Noland Arbaugh, the world’s first Neuralink user, will share his experiences. He will also give a live demonstration of neural control in action.

About the Robotics Summit & Expo

Registration is now open for the Robotics Summit & Expo, the world’s leading technical event for commercial robotics developers. The event is produced by The Robot Report and WTWH Media.

Iván Hernández Dalas: Physical Intelligence open-sources Pi0 robotics foundation model

Physical Intelligence, the San Francisco-based startup that has raised more than $400 million , has open-sourced its Pi0 robotic foundation model. Pi0 was introduced a few months ago and can be tuned to a range of tasks, including folding laundry, cleaning a table, scooping coffee beans, and more. Physical Intelligence has released the code and weights for Pi0 as part of its experimental openpi repository on GitHub. It also provides checkpoints for a few “simple tasks” on available platforms such as ALOHA and DROID, example code to run inference on real-world and simulated robot platforms, and the code for fine-tuning the base π0 model for your own tasks and platforms. The company said between 1-20 hours of data was sufficient to tune Pi0 to a variety of tasks in its own experiments.
