Iván Hernández Dalas: RBR50 Gala returns in the 2026 Robotics Summit & Expo

Last year's RBR50 Awards Gala, and the dinner will return at the 2026 Robotics Summit & Expo.

At the 2026 Robotics Summit & Expo, attendees will once again have the opportunity to meet some of the top innovators in robotics at the RBR50 Gala. The event will honor this year’s RBR50 Robotics Innovation Award Winners, and some of the top names in the industry will be in attendance.

The RBR50 Gala will be on May 27 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. ET at the Thomas M. Menino Boston Convention and Exhibition Center at the end of the first day of the Robotics Summit & Expo. The gala offers a chance to connect with the world’s leading robotics innovators. It’s also an evening to honor leading roboticists and their impressive achievements.

Some of the categories for the RBR50 Robotics Innovation Awards include:

  • Robot of the Year: Amazon Vulcan’s sense of touch automates warehouse picking and stowing
  • Startup of the Year: Physical Intelligence‘s PI models change how robots learn
  • Application of the Year: Harvard University‘s Soft Exoskeleton is a wearable robot that aids impaired arms for patients with stroke and ALS
  • Robots for Good: Tatum Robotics‘ robot hand Tatum1 enables tactile sign language communication

Also at the event, Aaron Parness, director of applied sciences at Amazon Robotics, will be joining Steve Crowe, executive editor of The Robot Report, for an exclusive conversation. Their talk will be the centerpiece of the evening, as we celebrate Amazon’s groundbreaking new robot, Vulcan.

Tickets to the event include dinner, drinks, photo opportunities, the awards program, and networking opportunities.

About the 2026 Robotics Summit & Expo

Registration is now open for the Robotics Summit & Expo, the world’s leading technical event for commercial robotics developers. The event is produced by The Robot Report and WTWH Media.

The show will have more than 50 sessions in tracks on artificial intelligence, design and development, enabling technologies, healthcare, and logistics. The Engineering Theater on the show floor will also feature presentations by industry experts.

Iván Hernández Dalas: Physical Intelligence open-sources Pi0 robotics foundation model

Physical Intelligence, the San Francisco-based startup that has raised more than $400 million , has open-sourced its Pi0 robotic foundation model. Pi0 was introduced a few months ago and can be tuned to a range of tasks, including folding laundry, cleaning a table, scooping coffee beans, and more. Physical Intelligence has released the code and weights for Pi0 as part of its experimental openpi repository on GitHub. It also provides checkpoints for a few “simple tasks” on available platforms such as ALOHA and DROID, example code to run inference on real-world and simulated robot platforms, and the code for fine-tuning the base π0 model for your own tasks and platforms. The company said between 1-20 hours of data was sufficient to tune Pi0 to a variety of tasks in its own experiments.
